Jesus cleanses the temple

And it was near the Passover feast of the Jews, and Jesus walked up to Jerusalem. And he found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting down, and making a lash out of cords he cast them all out of the temple, the sheep also and the oxen, and poured out the coin of the money-changers and overturned the tables, and to those who were selling doves, he said, “Take these things hence, and make not the house of my Father a house of traffic.” His disciples remembered that it was written: “The zeal of your house will consume me.” Then the Jews answered and said to him: “What sign do you show us, since you do these things?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” Then the Jews said, “This temple was in building six and forty years, and you will raise it in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. Therefore, when he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and believed in the scripture and word which Jesus spoke.
